BALI / Indonesia
17th – 18th June 2018
Hi folks and welcome back to your baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Alright so here’s the photos from Uluwatu last Sunday that we promised ya’s. As it shows wave height was in the solid 3-5ft range with a few bigger 6 footers hitting the Main Peak. The tide had pretty well filled in by the time we were down there so there wasn’t any action running down the Racetrack. Stand out local surfers had to be Alik Rudiarta from Uluwatu and who has been honing his back hand tube riding skills for the up coming RipCurl Padang Padang Cup next month. Plus Randy Dinar local Kuta surfer was also putting on a great show.
Yesterday the 18th Ketut was back up at Canggu here on the West side and I’m just about to start taking a look at the 600 photos he smashed through the 600mm lens. So stay tuned for those new photos to come.
Today I had our man take a run over to the East side with the early morning light and variable wind we had and the mediocre tide as we head towards the middle of our next Moon Phase. Ketut did phone through (re Twitter @baliwaves) calling wave height in the head to over head high class with a light off shore wind, with no surfers in the water at 8.45AM. He also sent us a photo for our Twitter feed on site as proof.
Weather wise we have gone from an early morning mostly blue sky to total over cast with maybe some rain fall in other parts of Bali and even here in Tuban. Current temperature is 28 degree’s Celsius at 10.22AM.
We have also loaded the latest Press Release direct from RipCurl on the up coming Padang Padang RipCurl Cup 2018. It’s got all the info and schedule with links so check that out and stay tuned for more on The Cup.
Alright then there’s also quite a bit of traffic chaos on the roads at the moment. It happens every time of the year after the end of the Muslim Ramadan and for the Idul Fitri Muslim holiday. So if you need to get anywhere through the afternoon (especially) make sure you allow a lot of extra time to get there. It seems that many drivers just love driving round and round in circles at this time of the year. But we are on the count down and it should start to improve in a few more days.
