BALI / INDONESIA
9th June 2018
Hello everyone and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok so this morning we thought we’d head down to Uluwatu to see what was happening at the Uluwatu CT WSL contest. With wave height showing a little bigger yesterday afternoon we were hoping to see some solid waves hitting Uluwatu and giving the World’s best surfers some real waves to ply their trade.
We took our time waiting for the SE Trade wind to kick in, arriving at 9.00AM to find wave height only in the 2-4ft class with the women’s Quarter finals going down. The tide wasn’t quite low enough yet to see epic Racetrack, only being a 1.0mtr Low set for 1.00PM. But that’s where the action was going down. The girls handled the Track better than most could, with still a little chop on the end section. We only hung out for a couple of hours cause it was tough trying to get somewhere with a clear view of the Racetrack with a lot of spectators all packing into the corner warungs. Too much coughing, sneezing and cigarette smoke happening for me and my boy. So we decided to head back home and watch the coverage on the phone. I have to say the quality of the drone footage was insane, vivid color indeed.
Weather wise it’s been a top day here in Bali with the sun beating down on Uluwatu all morning. right now at 2.30PM the temperature is sitting on 30 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 68%. Wind is 12-15knot out of the SE.
Ok we also have loaded a new gallery of photos from our friends up in the Mentawai Islands thanks to Ray and the Kandui Surf Resort. Plus another handful of photos out of G-Land thanks to Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp. So make sure you check them out. I’ve already seen another batch of photos from the Ments waiting for me in my inbox.
We would also like to welcome aboard the famous Dreamweaver surf charter boat that runs the only 7 day 3 island (Lembongan, Lombok & Sumbawa) surfing charters to baliwaves.com. Once apon a time these 7 days surf charters were the best value on offer and a must do surf trip, but due to some shonky operators they went silent. But the Dreamweaver charter boat is still delivering groups (private or mixed) to some of the best waves and most destinations a 7 day surf trip can. Anyone wanting to jump on the next trip leaving on the 23rd of June contact me and we will see what we can do for you.
