BALI / Indonesia
5th – 6th July 2018
Hi folks and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views. From right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok welcome to the weekend here on the baliwaves and here’s another fun filled photo gallery from when we were down at Balangan the other day. As I mentioned there were some fun waves to be had between the close outs and with only 5 other surfers in the water on the low end of the tide. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy at first but the ESE TRade wind did get pretty strong, blowing hard off shore around 10.00AM. As the tide filled in so did the number of surfers and chaos began, but we were well and truely surfed out by then.
Yesterday the 6th and I had to make a run up into the foot hiils of Bali’s Mt Agung to pick up my family from our mountain side traditional village. It’s a great drive up the North East side of the island with out the maniac bus and truck drivers that do the West Coast high way, very scenic as well. We didn’t really get a view of the Mt Agung until we were just about ready to start the climb due to cloud cover. But my first view was of a totally clear volcano crater and I was stoked to see it. But then half an hour later while I was drinking a coffee (no not a latte or a cuppacino, there are no warungs or shops in our village let alone a coffee house) Mt Agung all of a sudden belched out a big puff of dark colored smoke then went quite again.
Today the 7th and this morning the Outer Reefs here in Tuban were showing a nice little bump in wave height with 3-4ft+ waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. That was at 7.00AM, and another midday check was showing some nice waves peeling off on Kuta Reef but with a strong off shore Trade wind blowing hard into it. Not to mention a crowd of around 50 wave starved surfers cutting each others throats.
News in from Bingin and Impossible’s this afternoon was also calling wave height in the 3-5ft+ range but with a high tide and a little too much water on it.
Weather wise today it’s been a mainly hot and sunny day here in South Kuta / Tuban.
Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for wave height to bump up another notch and more strong ESE wind. I’d also imagine with the direction of this swell it’s going to be a little bigger over on the East Coast.
Watch out for a solid swell system moving up the Indian Ocean and heading our way on or close to the 15th, could be very interesting.
