BALI / INDONESIA
4th – 5th July 2018
Hello surfers and welcome back to the baliwaves (delivering the goods from Bali to you everyday since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views. From right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Well how about these latest photos hey ? Is it the World’s best tube riders or just the World’s best tubes. That just about sums up Uluwatu just about any day that the waves are over 4ft, especially when it’s peeling off down through the low tide Racetrack section. That’s when you’ll be seeing some of the best tube rides and riders. I just couldn’t believe that there wasn’t any local surfers on it the other morning except Rio Waida and his little brother. But anyway as it shows it was fkn cranking through some long deep and throaty tube rides.
Yesterday the 5th and we were back down on the bukit, but not at Uluwatu. No we were at Balangan around 7.00AM to find wave height in the 3-4ft range with a clean off shore wind and only 5 surfers in the water. With the low tide happening it’s always the best time to surf this place with the majority of surfers that frequent this place not quite up to it. But when the tide filled in the troops all equipped with reef boots started pouring out there. As usual at Balangan there was a lot of waves a bit too quick, but if you knew which ones to wait for there was some long and speedy rides. I’ll get some photos up later on and give ya’s look.
Weather wise yesterday it was a mostly hot and sunny day, light off shore East wind that turned a little to the ESE – SE and picked up in strength to around 15knot+ around mid morning.
This morning the 6th and our 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height a fun looking 2-3ft between Kuta Reef and Airport Left, with the bigger set waves hitting Middle Reef. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with the ESE Trade wind just starting to kick in.
Ok that’s about for me for now as I’m on a mission to go and pick up my family from up in the foot hills of Mt Agung at our family village around 10k’s out from the crater. So If I have signal and it’s clear enough I’ll post a photo or two on Twitter and Instagram on our baliwaves feeds, so keep an eye out ok.
Hmmm lots of stuff happening all around Bali again, some good and some not so good. If anyone has been tuning into FB.. I’m sure you’ve seen the mention of yet another new development happening at the Canggu / Pererenan river mouth. There’s also a big “project” happening to extend the runway of Bali’s international airport with thousands of tonnes of sand being dredged and then pumped straight over part of the living coral reef just mtrs South from the World acclaimed surf break of Airport Left. Yep a lot of controversy, and where will it all end.
