BALI / INDONESIA
28th – 29th July 2018
Good morning everybody and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali’s surfing scene since back in 1999) for our Sunday Session, for our latest news and best possible views. From right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Yesterday morning the 28th and we decided on getting some long left hand waves for a change. I think we have been flat out surfing rights the last week or so straight. So we set off up the West Coast to one of the longest left hand breaks on the island. Arriving around 7.15AM, after an intense 2 hr drive on the most radical stretch of black top, to find wave head to almost double head high waves peeling off. The tide was still running in and the wind light off shore, a perfect combo. Crowd wise I was a bit surprised to see around 50 surfers spread through the line up. But there were lots of waves coming through and we certainly got our share of the goods.
My afternoon surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was still showing some nice waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left in the 3-4ft+ class. The tide was a touch low for KR and AL but there were quite a few surfers out at Middle Reef.
Weather wise it wasn’t your average type of peak dry season kind of day. Over cast with light rain all the way up the West coast. Around 9.00AM the wind actually shifted to the West before going all the way around to the SE around midday.
Today the 29th and our forecasters are calling for another bump in wave height that should kick in anytime in the next 6-12hrs with the peak happening tomorrow.
I forgot to mention to have a quick read of our new short story on baliwaves by resident writer Nick Bruechle “When the horizon goes black” you can find it down the home page in our “latest news” feed.
Ok then it’s almost time to hit the road for another dawn session, so stay tuned to the baliwaves Twitter feed on site for more news and up dates through out the morning.
