BALI / INDONESIA
12th – 13th August 2018
Hello everyone and welcome back to the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views. From right here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok so wave height has been minimal and the wind has been pretty strong coming out of the SE at dawn pretty much. We called a lay day on the 12th, but there were waves to be down along the beach breaks of Kuta / Legian and even a sly wave out on Middle Reef when the tide started to push in. Of course Uluwatu had a few breaking but it’s pretty crazy with learners down there when it’s that size, same at most locations.
This latest photo gallery was taken down at Balangan beach yesterday the 13th. We tried our luck over on the East coast first up, arriving not long after dawn at our primary. But even then the wind was already coming hard out of the ESE. There was more size hitting the East side and hardly any surfers around but we opted to head back to Balangan. Wave height at Balangan was hitting the head high range on the set waves and surfing conditions were nice and clean, partly protected by the shore side cliffs. The number of learners was high but the local guides had most of the fresh learners down away from the point and middle sections. But still there was plenty of near misses from surfers that even at this small size should not have been anywhere near other surfers.
Weather wise it was hot and sunny all day long.
Today the 14th and wave height is still down in the 1-2ft+ range here along the SW end of Bali. So it was nice to sleep in until 6.30AM this morning for a change and have lunch at home. I did get to load up the latest photos and surf info from our friends at Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp and it looks like they have been scoring waves before the swell pittered out.
Weather wise today it’s been aniother hot and sunny one here on the holiday island. Right now at 5.01PM the temp is still sitting on 29 degree’s Celsius with the wind out of the ESE at 10-13knot+
Stay tuned tomorrow cause we can’t go lazing around the house for 2 days in a row. Hopefully we will find a few waves so keep an eye on our @baliwaves Twitter feed for up dates through out the morning.
