BALI / INDONESIA
23rd – 24th January 2019
Hello people and welcome back to your baliwaves (bringing you a little bit of Bali, sun shine or rain and wind since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views. From right here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok yesterday the 23rd and we set off with on the wave hunt with a couple of options on our mind. The swell and wind forecasts all pointed to the East Coast and not sounding too convincing eg: 8-10ft waves on a 7-8 sec period and winds with gusts of up to 40knot. But anyway we knew the wind was light when we set off. Arriving at our Primary location to find the waves cranking in the head to almost double head high class but with a solid crowd of 40+ surfers in the water. And knowing that most of them would be being “pushed in” we threw off and headed for our secondary. But no luck finding our “hole in the wall” secondary location only delivering 1-3ft waves. But hey when you’ve just spent 1.5hrs in the car it was good enough.
Today the 24th and we thought we’d turn up a little later, hoping that the early crew would be finishing up by the time we pulled into the car park at 8.30AM. But on first glance the waves were pumping and only 10 surfers in the line up. Wave height was in the 2-4ft class with some clean long lines peeling off with a light off shore wind. But just half an hour later the wind swung hard to the SW and quickly took the shine outta the waves.
Weather wise we are still getting hit hard from TC winds that are coming from down off North Western Australia but hopeful they should spin off out of our range by Sunday. Lots of cloud and intermittent rain still happening. Much cooler midday temperature not that bad with the mercury only getting to around 28 degree’s Celsius.
Ok stay tuned for more news and up dates right here on the one and only Bali surf report website.
