BALI / INDONESIA
21st – 22nd April 2019
Hello surfers and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (delivering you the goods on Bali’s surfing and weather scene since right back in 1999) for the start of another surfing week and our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Alright so here’s another fresh photo gallery from where we were hanging out at yesterday the 21st. We were lucky arriving at 6.20AM to find a totally empty line up with head to well over head high waves peeling off. As it shows in our photos surfing conditions were clean with a light off shore wind before turning to glass then eventually cross shore when the ESE Trade wind kicked in around 9.15AM. We hung out for a few hours and the number of surfers peaked out at 10. Not bad for a sunny Easter Sunday in Bali aye.
Weather wise we had some volcanic dust up where we were and I’m sure glad we were sitting in a car with the windows rolled up and air con on, cause it was thick. No drama’s at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International airport with everything running as scheduled.
Today the 22nd and our new swell turned up right on time late yesterday afternoon and there’s still plenty of it hanging around today. Wave height here on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was breaking in the 3-6ft range (head to triple head high) with Middle reef closing out on the bigger set waves. The tide was still just coming off the bottom when we checked and I would imagine there would be a solid crowd on Kuta Reef as the tide filled in enough. That’s pretty much the norm when it gets a bit too big for most surfers it ends up in a shit fight out at KR.
Weather wise today, just blue sky and very hot. The ESE-SE Trade wind kicked in hard around 9.30AM and is now at 2.15PM gusting up to 20knot.
The next tide today in Bali will be a reef exposing 0.3mtr Low at 5.55PM
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is telling me that wave height should hang in there through the morning before backing off a touch through the afternoon with the period still up there at 14 second intervals. Expect the ESE-SE Trade wind to be blowing hard by mid to late morning. You had also better throw in an early morning Low tide into the equation.
Long Range Surf Forecast (19th April) has wave height continuing to taper off on the 20th and then another medium to moderate swell should show on the evening of the 21st and hold through till the 22nd. Just behind this system is going to be another moderate to large swell slamming into just about all of Indonesia’s surfing locations on the 24th and holding for a couple of days.
I’ve been in disposed today sitting in the car dealers most of the morning getting my car serviced. Yes it is now my car finally making the last payment last week after slogging it out over the last extremely hard as hell five years repaying the 8 grand I borrowed from t
