Hello surfers and Bali lovers and welcome back to the baliwaves (your eye’s in Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Early yesterday morning we thought we’d take a run back up the coast and see if we could find us some more un crowded waves. After a slow drive, and driving past 3 over turned transport trucks coming in from Java we pulled into Balian for a quick surf check. The waves were cranking with easy double head high sets hitting the A frame Bombie out the back. Hardly any surfers in the water, if only the river wasn’t pouring out chocolate colored water it would have been well worth a paddle. But I’ve surfed at this place too many times to take the risk. Even though there has not been a shark incident here in over 2 years I’m more concerned about ear infections in the putrid water. It won’t be long and we’ll be basking in “Dry Season” sun shine everyday and nice clean water again.
So seeing as though there was plenty of swell we jumped back in the van and headed another 30mins further up the coast to Medewi. As it shows in out latest photo gallery wave height was an easy head to over head high and surfing conditions clean and glassy. We were also very happy to see only around 10 or so surfers sitting on the point with some waves running 150mtrs+. So lots of waves for all with a good friendly vibe in the water.
Today the 2nd and our 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height breaking in the 2-4ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still running up at the time and some fun looking waves were hitting Airports and even a few on Kuta Reef.
Surfing conditions were clean and glassy at the time with the wind only just coming out of the NE. Hopefully we will see a little more East in the wind through the morning then maybe swinging to S-SSE through the afternoon.
Weather wise today we did get off to nice start with a bit of blue sky over us here in Tuban but now at 8.15AM we’ve got more cloud cover rolling in out of the East.
Swell Forecast, Our forecasters are saying that wave height will back off a touch tomorrow and into the morning of the 4th then a nice new SSW swell should provide some nice waves into the 6th. The maps are also showing another TC forming off the top of Western Australia (6th-7th) and tracking down their coast, we might get some more shitty wind off that for a couple a days. Futher out we are expecting a moderate size swell out of the SW to light up our reefs through out Bali and most of Indonesia.
