BALI / INDONESIA
17th – 18th May 2019
Howdy people and welcome back to the baliwaves (keeping our content fresh and original since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok so as most of you would already know wave height has been in the dull drums for the last 4 days now and that’s about a long a small wave spell as we get here in Bali. But also for those in the know and prepared to make an effort looking for waves there are still plenty of fun sized stuff to be had.
This current photo gallery was shot yesterday up at the Gu and it was all systems go for the local grommets as it shows. Wave height was at best in the head high range (sets only) with clean and tidy surfing conditions that lasted through until the ESE-SE Trade wind kicked in around 9.30AM. Yes that’s right when our Tradey kicks in each morning due to the shape of our island the wind starts to come in on shore at Canggu and usually just gets stronger and stronger through out the day.
This morning the 19th and wave height is still looking pretty small, well for anyone that weighs over 40kg’s I reckon. Nothing really breaking on the Outer Reefs of Tuban. If I was desperate to surf this morning I would have gone up to Balian or even headed down to Uluwatu for the best chance to have some fun in the sun.
Weather wise outside it’s been a mostly sunny day with some cloud buzzing through. Temperature wise right now at 11.30AM it’s on 28 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction is coming hard out of the ESE-SE with gusts up to 15knot+
The next tide today will be a 0.2mtr Low at 3.57pm. Today we also have a Full Moon rising so expect more big tidal ranges over the next few days.
Looking at the swell predictions and hopefully we will see a slight bump in size later this afternoon and into tomorrow. Then after that it’s just going to be a roller coaster of up and down small waves through nuntil around the 24th – 25th.
Oh yeah and make sure you take a look at our latest video clip we through together. It features Balangan Beach and a few street scenes with music courtesy of our good friends at SOULLAST BAND (Bali).
