BALI / INDONESIA
22nd – 24th June 2019
Hello surfers and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (The original Bali surf report since back in 1999) Make sure you keep on reading for more information on cheap surfers accommodation, surf, tide and weather info, discounts into G-Land and lots of other stuff.
Ok so on the 22nd and 23rd we were back over on the East Coast but it was pretty ordinary where we were. The only good thing was the low numbers in the water before the wind turned on shore. How ever I did hear Nusa Dua was the place to be.
A friend of baliwaves has also sent in a couple of photos from where he was at Canggu yesterday the 23rd and there looked to be plenty of power to go around and light variable wind.
Today the 24th and our 7.00am surf check on the Outer reefs of Tuban was showing 2-4ft+ waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left as the tide was running towards the bottom of the Low. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with only a slight breeze out of the NE. Middle Reef was picking up the bigger sets.
From there we thought we’d take a long over due run down to the SE end of the island to one of our favorite locations of Bingin. Not a lot has changed at this iconic mechanical barreling left and the walk balk up the stairs still takes the breath out of you. But once your down at sea level it’s really a beautiful little beach and community.
As it shows in the bulk of today’s photo gallery wave height was a fairly consistent chest to well over head high. On arrival there were only 15 surfers in the water, that was before the ESE Tradey kicked while conditions were still glassy. When the the off shore did commence it was barrel city and the local boys leading the charge all the way.
Weather wise today there was a few clouds fluffy around earlier but now at 2.40pm it’s pretty much just blue sky. The temperature is now a warm 29 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is at 65% and UV index on 3.
The next tide today will be a High at 1.50pm
Tomorrows Surf Outlook is looking like we will see another bump in wave height around mid morning / lunch time and the ESE Trade might be blowing with a little more gusto. Low tide will be between 8-9am.
Further out on the Wave Radar our next swell that had some forecasters chomping at the bit with early calls of mega swell has been down graded as they usually are. But we can still expect a large system to slam into Indonesia on the 28th _ or – 12 hrs that will light up our big wave locations on that day. Then slowly tapering off until another smaller medium system arrives sometime around the 1st-2nd of July.
Earlier this morning I was looking through some old hard disks I found in the bottom of a cupboard and discovered around 20hrs of un edited footage from all over Bali going back quite a few years to when I was a keen video guy. So stay tuned and I’ll try and see if I can cut some clips. Especially some Padang Padang footage seeing as though it’s just about time for another RipCurl Padang Padang Cup again.
Travel Tip #76251
Please take care and never ever leave any valuables in your car or under your motorbike seat as I’ve heard more reports of thieves plying their trade along some of the more secluded parking areas around Bali.
Also if you have any young surfers with the potential to excel and to get some professional training and coaching in all aspects of surfing then check out Tipi Jabriks “Grom Patrol” Bali surf training camp and contests that’s coming up soon. Check our latest news menu for more info.
