BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT

Hello everyone and thanks again for dropping by the baliwaves, your eye’s and ears here on your favorite holiday destination of Bali. I would have had this report on line yesterday but believe it or not there just wasn’t enough day light hours. I also have another very important job on that is restoring my two old fishing boats down at the beach. Just for the record one is a traditions 7mtr double outrigger “Balinese Jukung” fishing boat I’ve had since 2005 (my second Jukung) and the other is my small 4mtr 1-2 man paddle powered single outrigger canoe. Both need a bit of repair work before I can get out and do some survival fishing again. I’ll snap a couple of photos later this afternoon (weather permitting) and show you what my son and I have been up to.
Ok well as we have reported here on the baliwaves with our swell forecast / predictions (mostly thanks to StormSurf.com the most accurate surf forecasting website for Indonesia) last report we made. Pretty much right on cue on the 25th we started to see a little more energy on our reefs and beaches, both sides of the island, more so on the East Coast. Late yesterday afternoon I could see more signs and swell moving onto the Outer Reefs of Tuban (Kuta Reef to Airport Left / Right). With this morning the 27th revealing a solid swell out there with wave height hitting the 5-8ft range. I also think that the peak will come late this afternoon or tonight. I have thrown a few images of the next weeks wave models up at the end of our current photo gallery.
So with big swell fever on Bali right now it was meant to be that the next archived surf photos in my vault just happened to be of Padang Padang of August 2011. As you can see this was a free surf session and features a few local and International icons of the time. Even one of the local Pr’s wearing the flavor of the year “Spiderman mask” (Gogo ?) and showing super cool tube riding skill.
Weather wise the norm of late seems to be hot days with over night rain, last night was normal. But today the cloud hasn’t cleared, as yet anyway. Right now at 12.15pm the temp is a a little cooler at 29 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is also a touch lower at 72%. The wind was light and variable earlier this morning but now seems to be more S-SSE up to 10kms in strength. The Tide has just passed through a 2.3mtr High and that coupled with the solid swell I imagine would be creating a big high tide line along the foreshores around the island. The next tide will be a 0.3mtr Low at 6.59pm this evening.
On the beach lock down situation here in Bali and most of Indonesia for that matter. Still no clear date has been released for the re opening but hopefully by the 29th (so close) we will get some info and fingers crossed they will re open. The last couple of afternoons down at Kuta Reef where my boats are on the beach I’ve seen quite a mixture of tourists making their way out and in from the Outer Reefs.
