BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
20th June 2020
Firstly we do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family. We would also like to offer a free promotional service to any other small outfits / businesses that are surf related here in Indonesia and Australia. So in turn we have told all our sponsors that we will be waving any fee’s until things are getting back to normal again. Please contact us to see if your eligible for free promotion on baliwaves. Special thanks to our good friends that have kicked in some dollars to help my family and I keep food on our table, lights on and baliwaves.com being able to help keep you in the loop.
baliwaves.com is happy to be able to give our friends at JOWA SURF a little love with some promo on us. As we mention above times are tough and we are here to help any small local business with a little more awareness through baliwaves.com
Hello everyone and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report since 1999) for a quick run down on whats happening here on Bali’s surfing scene. Well officially most beaches if not all are still closed but that’s not stopping everyone from getting a few discrete waves in. This mornings surf check was showing (video surf report on Twitter and Instagram) a nice bump in wave height with over head to almost triple head high waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The wind has been pretty much howling off shore out of the East all day. So the better conditions would be down on the Southern end of the island under the cliffs between Uluwatu and all locations through to Balangan.
Weather wise today it’s been mostly hot and sunny with some cloudy periods. Temperature wise our daily’s are still around 29 degree’s Celsius. The strong wind has been keeping it a little cooler than usual. Today we also have a New Moon rising so we will be experiencing some much larger tidal ranges over the next few days.
While we are on the Outer reefs I though I had better load up some classic Kuta Reef photos out of our bottomless archived files from June 2009.
Here in Bali at ground level the Corona Virus is still making it’s presence felt. With more cases being discovered it’s leading to more contact tracing and testing. This has seen a big increase in positive cases here in Bali. I think it’s going to be pretty standard with the increased tests being done and hopefully we will get a little clearer picture of the real situation here on the island of the Gods. Nationally Indonesia has started to bump up the number of tests to 20,000 per day finally and hopefully this figure will also increase. The last 3 days in Bali has seen the highest daily number of positives yet. Nationally the numbers have not got under 1000 new positives daily for well over a week now. But more testing is very positive news and hopefully the peak will soon pass.
ATTENTION DEPARTMENT, On the Bali Aid cause our good friend Nicole Polley is organizing a worthy fundraiser that is targeting the needy. A great way for friends with friends here in Bali to lend a hand. Take a look at what Nicole and her friends are doing and maybe there is some one you know here in Bali that needs your help.
