BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
6th June 2020 (Bali Corona Virus)
Firstly we do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family. Ok this mornings photo gallery (I ran out of hours yesterday, this un paid work is non stop) features the final day of the Oakley Pro 2013. As it shows the waves just kept pumping at this even, from start to finish. Like most of the earlier rounds the final was also won with tube rides, which doesn’t go down very often with the WSL judges. Parko was the man and it was a hands down victory and a great win added to his career total.
I’ve had enough of contests for now, so our next up dates from the archive vault will go back to some regular Joe’s around the traps here in Bali. I’m also going to dig into the video vault and find some en edited never before seen footage of Bali soon so stay tuned for that.
Last week we had some short lived good news with a couple of beaches officially opened to the surfing public. But it was only 24hrs later that we received the news that our Governor had countered and asked for the beaches to remain closed until further notice.
On the current surf scene in my part of the island the last few days has only seen some small waves. Only 1-3 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport left with howling ESE-SE off shore Trade wind. I haven’t surfed, as much as I’d like to I have been abiding by the rules. It sure hasn’t stopped everyone though.
On the swell forecast scene it looks like around the 9th – 10th we might see a little more West Coast friendly swell turning up, but with no sign of this strong ESE wind letting up.
Weather wise today it’s great to see some blue sky after yesterdays full day of intermittent rain. The next tide will be a solid 2.6mtr High at 10.00am. Yesterday the 5th we did have a Full Moon rise so we can expect some big tidal ranges over the next few days.
On the Bali Coronal Virus situation new positive cases in Bali continue to climb, 14 new cases in the last 24hrs. Currently we have had 487 cases with 334 recoveries, Bali’s Corona Virus death toll officially stands at 5, controversially 7. Likewise over on our neighboring islands of Lombok and Sumbawa these places have been hit a little harder with 72 new cases in the last 48hrs, 21 official deaths.
