BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
26th – 27th June 2020
Firstly we do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family. We would also like to offer a free promotional service to any other small outfits / businesses that are surf related here in Indonesia and Australia. So in turn we have told all our sponsors that we will be waving any fee’s until things are getting back to normal again. Please contact us to see if your eligible for free promotion on baliwaves. Special thanks to our good friends that have kicked in some dollars to help my family and I keep food on our table, lights on and baliwaves.com being able to help keep you in the loop.
baliwaves.com is happy to be able to give our friends at JOWA SURF a little love with some promo on us. As we mention above times are tough and we are here to help any small local business with a little more awareness through baliwaves.com
Today’s photo gallery was shot back in Feb of 2011 over on the East Coast at the ever popular perfectection of Keramas.
Hello surfers and thanks again for tuning into the baliwaves. Well plenty of waves here in South Kuta with the Outer Reefs delivering some quality as they always do. Yesterday morning’s surf check was showing wave height in the 3-4ft class with light off shore wind through until the Trade wind kicked in around 9.00am. This morning the 27th due to stress levels starting to max out I thought I better get out there for a dawn patrol surf check, my 3rd early morning surf since March.
At first glance as the sun started to pop up wave height looked a clean and tidy 3-4ft on Middle Reef with a light off shore wind. The tide was too low for Airports and Kuta Reef and still dropping as we jumped out of the “jukung” double outrigger reef taxi. There were already 2 surfers in the water but it wasn’t long before the reality of many more waves than could be surfed. I clocked up 5 nice rides in the first 30 mins before getting cleaned up by a set of 8 double head high plus waves and washed back across the reef for a 500mtr paddle back out.
Conditions were perfect through until the tide started to come off the bottom running back in. That was around 8amish. The wind also dropped off around that time before swinging to the North and then the North West, on shore. The set waves kept pumping through for the now 6 of us but the shape went to crap and mostly closing out. So after my last closeout I straightened out and rode it across the reef and started the 20 min paddle back to shore.
Right now at 12.30pm the ESE Trade wind has kicked back in with some fresh gusts around 15-18knot. The sun is out with some cloud drifting through, typical dry season weather. Temperature wise it’s a nice 29 degree’s Celsius and warmer out of the wind.
Our Swell Forecast predictions are saying that wave height might back off a little here on the West Coast but still showing over on the East Coast due to swell direction. Then on the 29th / 30th a new medium to large swell should hit Indonesia and light up all locations from Acheh up above the Ments all the way to Bali and East to Sumbawa. This swell should peak here in Bali late on the 30th but more likely the biggest waves hitting on the 1st of July. Another smaller more Southerly swell should come in around the 3rd before another medium blanketing system possibly arriving on the 5th- 6th of July. July looks like it will be starting off with a bang and way out on the long range forecast there is another big system that we will be keeping an eye on.
The Bali Corona Virus situation is still a worry here with numbers still growing and a couple more deaths added onto the tally this week. Nationally the “normal” number of new cases of Corona has now been averaging over 1000 per day for quite awhile. Good news that the number of tests nationally have increased but still no numbers on tests done here on Bali.
Bali’s International airport remains closed with no International flights in or out. The Domestic terminal is open but with strict restrictions and requirements for arrivals or departures. No Temporary Visa’s are or will be issued here in Bali until further notice from the department of Immigration. The ferry terminals in and out of Bali are open but also have strict requirements in place.
ATTENTION DEPARTMENT, On the Bali Aid cause our good friend Nicole Polley is organizing a worthy fundraiser that is targeting the needy. A great way for friends with friends here in Bali to lend a hand. Take a look at what Nicole and her friends are doing and maybe there is some one you know here in Bali that needs your help, The real reality of it is, if you know someone here in Bali through being on holiday then those people are battling to keep food on the table and the house lights on. Please if you can drop a couple of bucks into Nicole’s account. Nicole is helping a lot of people at ground level, I know personally as my family received a basic food relief package as well.
