Bali Surf & Weather report (PPKM)
21st August 2021
Hello surfers and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (The original Bali surf report website since 1999). Bali is still currently under micro restrictions (PPKM) and has been now extended through till the 24th. Although Bali’s domestic airport and inter island ferry service are open it is now only for fully vaccinated people. For what I have seen nothing really has changed with little to no enforcement happening.
Well sorry for the lack of photos and updates here on the dot com, well except for the FB updates I guess. I’ve been trying to keep busy with that old depressed feeling coming back on again. So I decided to pull my traditional (Jukung) fishing boat apart for a service. But in the beginning it was just to have something to do. https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
After stripping off old pain(t) I found plenty to keep me busy with more problems than what I expected. But I was (inside) happy to have a job to do that I knew how to handle and complete. To cut a longer story down to size I will be re assembling “the boat” later this afternoon and putting the old girl back in the water tomorrow. It started out as therapy and it worked for the time being, that’s the main thing.
Ok so after watching 2-3 footers peeling off on Kuta Reef most of the week a new swell was predicted to show today the 21st. Right on schedule wave height between Kuta reef and Airport Left had jumped from 2-3ft into a nice 3-5ft. No shortage of way faring surfers arriving at Pantai Jerman this morning. There must have been close to 100 of them distributed between KR and AL.
So I thought I had better pull out the 100mm lens and head down to Uluwatu and shoot a few waves. As it shows in our gallery wave height was trying hard to make the solid triple head high or 6ft class and on a couple of freak set waves it did. But for the most of the time I was down at Ulu it was more a consistent 3-5ft or head to double head high. The tide was bit fat but there was still a couple of good ones hitting the Peak while Temple’s was lining up better.
Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with the wind mostly light out of the ESE-SE.
Weather wise there was plenty of cloud early but it’s pretty much all blue above here in Tuban now at 1.20pm. Temperature is on 29C and I can honestly say that the water is pretty cool but normal at this time of the year around 20-21C.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.2mtr Low around 3.30pm and we have a Full Moon rising tomorrow night.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is looking to me anyway like the morning session will be similar to this morning and then backing off through the day. Slowly but surely, before we get a fresh swell hitting Bali on the 24th (plus minus 12hrs)
Ok friends’ thanks again for hanging in there and believe me we are trying our best to act normal and can’t wait to see the end of this. It’s now going on 20 months of bugger all income and only just surviving from our friends that have felt my pain from a far. We have managed to sell a few tee shirts through June and July but no orders for August and looking grim. So please if any of our friends can spare a dollar or two and order an original baliwaves tee shirt (also now in long sleeve) you would not only be helping my family out but also others in the production sequence. https://www.baliwaves.com/2021/06/help-baliwaves-get-through-the-bali-corona-virus-cash-flow-crisis-with-a-rp90000-original-baliwaves-tee-shirt/
