30 September, 2022 – Kuta, Bali: The Asian Surf Cooperative (ASC) and Persatuan Selancar Ombak Indonesia (PSOI) together with Bintang Crystal are excited to announce that the Liga Surfing Indonesia Grand Final 2022 will be held at Pererenan (Canggu) from 7-9 October. There will be a live broadcast each day by Asian Surf Broadcasting, allowing the worldwide surfing audience to enjoy this exciting boardriders competition via the ASC’s YouTube and Facebook channels, plus there will be giveaways including a surfboard from Chilli Surfboards, beer from Bintang Crystal, and LSI T-Shirts so make sure and stay tuned to the LSI Instagram @ligasurfingindonesia for details.
Due to Covid restrictions, the inaugural and first-ever Liga Surfing Indonesia national boardriders league Grand Final 2021 was delayed from October 2021 to March of 2022, where 15 surfing clubs brought a total of 197 surfers from as far away as West Java and Sumbawa to Kuta Beach in Bali to join in the Grand Finals, and now the second season of the LSI will be completed and new champions crowned at the end of this Grand Final event.
To qualify their participation in the event, each club had a requirement to run 5 of their own club events, beginning in April and ending in October, after which the club and its top 4 surfers in each division are eligible to participate in this Grand Final 2022.
“This LSI 2022 is going to be the biggest, as we’ve got 17 surf clubs now, so I’m really happy with the growth and participation after a difficult last year due to the pandemic,” says ASC’s Tipi Jabrik. “We’re fortunate to have the support of Bintang Indonesia and other sponsors, and the sanctioning and support of the PSOI, so we’re able to put on this LSI Grand Final. And as the PSOI is having their National Surfing Championships just before the LSI Grand Final, the best surfers in Indonesia will be here to put on their best performances at both events. It will be a highly competitive, fun and entertaining time for everyone, and we’re very proud to be able to broadcast it live for all around the world to see,” he added.
Continuing with their commitment to support Indonesian surfing, Bintang Crystal is once again supporting the LSI. “”At BINTANG, we always support youth in expressing themselves and pursuing their passions in their own unique way,” said Jessica Setiawan, Marketing Director of Multi Bintang Indonesia. “Therefore, we are pleased to be able to support the surfing community through Liga Surfing Indonesia. We are rooting for Indonesian surfers to make their mark on the international stage.”
The finalists in the Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Juniors and Masters divisions will receive cash and prizes from sponsors, and the winning team of the Team Challenge will receive trips to G-land courtesy of Bobby’s G-land. Under 10’s finalists will be given product prizes.
