Hello Bali people and welcome back to Bali’s original surfing website that was specially created with keeping Bali people in touch with Bali back in 1999. I think we have done a pretty good job weathering, earthquakes, tidal waves, terrorist attacks and volcanic eruptions. Let’s hope it’s blue sky and off shore wind for Bali’s future.
Yesterday the 7th we ducked back over to the East coast of Bali and as it shows there were some more small but very clean and tidy waves breaking on Keramas. At 8.30am there was only 15 surfers in the water but the crowd did grow to around 20 while we (Ketut) were on the scene. Surfing conditions were mostly glassy before wind eventually shifted to the SSE around 9.30am.
Weather wise it was mostly overcast with the threat of rain all day.
Today the 8th and our 6.30am surf check on the Outer Reefs of South Kuta was still showing 1-3ft waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport left. Hardly a surfer in sight out there this morning with no reef taxi’s available from the Airport, Pantai Jerman or the Kuta group today. This happens once a year as we get ready for our big ceremony this afternoon at our ocean side Temple, Pura Sangaran.
Just for a change of scenery Ketut decided to take ride down to Uluwatu and see what was happening on the surf scene down there. As you can expect the waves were a little bit bigger, in the 2-4ft class on the bigger set waves hitting the Main Peak. Clean and glassy surfing conditions with a light NNW wind only just apparrant at 1-2knt. Crowd wise, when it is small to medium sized at Uluwatu it seems to be the normal these days to be push in surf school central and that’s how Ketut described it this morning. Around 50-70 mostly learner surfers spead through the main Peak as the tide filled in.
Weather wise this morning our day started off with a mostly blue sky. Now at 11.30am there is some cloud moving in, temperature wise the mercury is on 29C, humidity is at 78%. Wind direction is now out of the West at 4-6knt.
The next tide in Bali will be a 0.3mtr Low at 3.39pm. We also have a super moon rising tonight with an eclipse.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast has the wave modals calling for a very slight bump in wave through out the afternoon. Again the wind forecasters are calling for that sweet E-SE wind, hopefully they get it right.
Ok crew that’s about me I have to bail out with heaps to do before this afternoons ceremony. Have a great afternoon and call in again soon for more latest news and best surfing views from right here on your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination.
G20 awareness for everyone here in Bali over the next couple off weeks be prepared for traffic diversions and delays with some roads and access closed off. So please allow a little extra time for any travel and I would be avoiding the Nusa Dua area for sure.
Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 12kg refills have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone. Everyone that is that’s not using US, Euro, GP or AU dollars that is.
