Hello guys and girls and welcome back to your eye’s on the waves here in Bali. Ok firstly I hope your weekend has been going well full of sun, surf and fun. Here in Bali the weather has gone back to overcast and yesterday afternoon the 11th we watched another nasty thunder and lightning storm battering the Canggu area. Ray and I were down giving our outboard motor an oil change and a boat tidy up in general after fishing almost every day the last week. Here in South Kuta those regular afternoon November storms usually don’t reach us, but they do cause a bit of anxiety.
Today’s photo gallery was shot back at the black sand beach yesterday morning, thanks to Ketut. Wave height had bumped up a little for the morning session and surfing conditions were super clean and glassy. It wasn’t until around 9.15am that the wind started to swing to the SSE and take the gloss off the waves. Lot’s of local surfers out there again yesterday putting on a damn fine display of surfing. Lots of cloud cover as it shows in the photo quality.
Sunday the 13th and wave height has taken a bit of a dip with our 6.45am surf check on the Outer reefs only showing 1-3ft between Kuta reef and Airport Left. The tide was just starting to run back in and Airport left and Middle Reef were looking the better options at the time. Unfortunately Airport Left is a “no go” until after the G20. Yesterday afternoon there were quite a few sad surfers watching Airports peel off some very pretty little waves, all going un ridden. Well not much else to talk about today and it sure is nice to have an easy Sunday at home. Tomorrow however is another day and we will be heading back out on the road in search of some waves, see ya then.
Weather wise today more light high and thin cloud cover and just this second I’m hearing a little thunder rumbling off in the distance. Temperature wise now at 1.20pm the mercury is on 31C, humidity is at 77%. Wind direction is S-SSE at 4-7knt.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.9mtr Low at 5.49pm.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for more 2-4ft waves. early morning light and variable wind before dedicating to the SSE-SE around midday
Breaking News during the G20 meetings being held here in Bali surfing at Airport Left or Airport Right has been banned for the duration of the G20. As surreal as it sounds that is what has been passed onto all surf taxi drivers from Patra beach to Kuta beach. Yesterday afternoon there was at least 6 traditional boats (mine included) chasing schools of fish right behind the airport runway without any drama.
Weather wise out side this morning it’s a light overcast sort of a day where we are in South Kuta. A likely chance of more afternoon thunder and lightning storms in the Canggu area. Right now at 10.20am the temperature is a mild 29C with the humidity at 79%. Wind direction is now W-SW @ 3-6knt.
Ok friends thanks again for dropping into the original Bali surf report and stay tuned for mor news and views as we get them
G20 awareness for everyone here in Bali over the next couple off weeks be prepared for traffic diversions and delays with some roads and access closed off. So please allow a little extra time for any travel and I would be avoiding the Nusa Dua area for sure.
Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 12kg refills have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone. Everyone that is that’s not using US, Euro, GP or AU dollars that is.
