Hello everyone and I certainly hope you all made it through Chrissy. Now it’s time to start gearing up for the new Year I recon. I guess you have put two and two together why we haven’t bothered to get out there chasing photos and reports for ya’s. Well to tell you the truth the weather has been doing it’s best to keep everyone in doors with 20-30knt W-WSW winds creating havoc most of the week. In fact what a weeks it’s been starting off on the 24th when the wind hit gale force or 40-50knt wind, tree’s fell, boats were sunk. Probably one of the worst Decembers I’ve been here through in the time I have been on island.
But that hopefully is behind us now, the wind should start to settle down soonish. January can also deliver us a short burst of Easterly wind, anywhere from 1 day to a weeks worth so be on stand bye for that.
Back to now, this morning the wind was kinda light out of the WNW so the boys and I thought we would try our luck in the Christmas / New Year holiday traffic and go shoot some photos. The traffic was pretty knarly even for me and added an extra 40 mins to the trip time. Traffic hotspots on our route in was in the Sanur area and worse coming home.
As it shows there were a few more of those 2-3ft+ type little right handers with 21 surfers in the water at 9.15am. The tide was still a bit low and as it did start filling in there was a solid stream of surfers rolling out of the resort bumping the numbers up to a very healthy 35+ by the time we packed up at 11. Surfing conditions were nice and clean with just a touch of cross shore from the Westerly. Then at 11.am the wind shifted further around to the SSW and it was all over.
Weather wise today it wasn’t too bad early all be it light overcast with a few patches of blue. Lot’s of big fat black clouds moving about and it did rain on the way home and more heavy rain fell after lunch. Right now at 4.pm the temp is on 29C, humidity is at 83%. Wind direction is coming at us out of the WSW at 15-20knt
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.5mtr Low at 745pm.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast has the wave model calling a slight bump in wave height on a slightly shorter period. Wind direction is predicted NW-WNW early before dedicating to the West late morning.
