Hello again Bali / Indo surfers and a big thank you for dropping by the baliwaves. To see what’s going down here on the best value for hard earned holiday surfing destination of Bali. Well just to put things into perspective these current photos are from the 4th and our last day of good clean weather and waves at the influencer paradise of Canggu, namely Echo beach to Pererenan river mouth. Then the 5th the wind kicked back in early out of the WNW, believe it or not but the internet forecasters got it right. We went back to the Gu that morning at dawn hoping to still at least see some on shore waves of some kinda substance. But nah, what we got was 1-3 footers mushed out from the cross on shore wind and an nasty ear infection (Slim) from the ifish water quality.
Now yesterday the 6th and we were on a mission and not going to give in. We were at the Serangan boat ramp waiting for a captain to turn up in the dark and rain pre dawn. We were on the spot by 5.45am with the dawn happening around 6.10am but there was no one in sight. We hung out ready in our boardies and rashies boards waxed, ready to to roll. The first boat captain arrived at 6.35am and then as I was locking the car door 5 vans pulled up all with 8-10 long boards strapped to their roofs. Then a couple of boats went past from further down the channel with another 10 in each boat. That was more than enough for me so we jumped back in the car and headed North to take our chances at Keramas. The boat captain couldn’t understand why we didn’t take his boat hehe.
But we were all optimistic and when we arrived at Keramas we were rewarded to find 1-3 footers waist to head high on a rising tide and clean off shore wind. Almost a fairy tail ending haha.
This morning the 7th and I’m stuck here in from of the PC taking care of tis and than but news in from the East Coast was of 1-2 footers with a fresh off shore wind. Great conditions for learners on long boards. Glad to be hanging at home this morning and looking forward to catching up with my crew down the beach later this afternoon.
Weather wise this morning here in South Kuta at 11.00am we have a light over cast sky here that looks a little darker over toward the direction of Nusa Dua. Temperature wise the mercury is a warm 29C with the humidity at 82%. The wind was NW earlier but is now out of the West at 115km/h and is expected to swing more to the SW through the afternoon.
The next tide today here in Bali will be a 0.5mtr Low at 4.22pm. Yesterday saw a Full Moon rising so we will get some bigger today ranges over the next few days.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is thankfully calling for a small bump in wave height which seems to be the tail of a nice swell reaching the Northern Mentawai island chain and then tapering off all the way down to us on Bali. Wind direction is forecasted to be out of the WNW early before turning West before dedicating to the SW-SSW through the afternoon.
Ok that’s me for this morning crew but tune into the baliwaves on FB and Insta tomorrow morning for more news and updates on the go.
Just a tip that can help to make sure you have a good time out in the water (any surf is a good surf right). If you find your self having accidently drop in on a local you had better be quick with your apology, quite often that’s all it will take to de sooth the situation. If a local also drops in on you don’t freak out ! it’s only a wave and try to put yourself in their position with the current crowds. Just try complimenting or having a laugh with the surfer it will go down a lot better and earn you some cred. If you lose control and start swearing and dropping the “F” word I can assure you at the very least you will be in no polite way told to leave the water. Just a heads up cause we want you all to have good vibes in the water here in Bali.
If anyone of our regulars has an old GoPro at home they would like to donate to us at baliwaves we would be forever grateful. I did have a GoPro 7 but last year the rubber seal covering the on/off button perished and is now not water tight.
