Yesterday the 19th my morning was mostly all about me sorry. After a friend called me “Single Fin” the night before and said there were fish on the bite off Uluwatu I couldn’t help it. The planets had lined up as far as I was concerned. But enough about my day, I’ll try and get a fishing report up on line shortly for those of you who like to catch and cook fresh fish.
While I was cruising out past the Kuta Reef etc Ketut was down on the peninsular at Uluwatu hoping to find some surfers that could do the waves of Uluwatu justice, he reckoned it was hard work. As it shows in our latest gallery there was some nice waves down at Uluwatu with the Temple section delivering the best waves through the top of the tide. Ketut got 65 on his 7.30am head count from the Peak down to Temple section.
Some solid double head high sets hitting the Main Peak and a touch smaller down on the Temple section. The wind was still light and variable leaving the ocean surface glassy and clean. Uluwatu does like that off shore ESE Trade wind to open up the barrels though. I was down off Uluwatu with the “Single Fin” boss till just after midday and with the out going tide I could see a lot more than 65 surfers spread from Temple’s right through to the Racetrack. Cruising home past Balangan there was also a few waves peeling off from the point and down the reef.
My score was 1 boated Wahoo and 1 lost + 1 Mahi Mahi not bad for a solo sport fishing session. It sure sorts out the fishermen from the posers when you have to do it all by yourself with 2 lures out in the water. Imagine you have 1 fish on peeling off line and you still have 1 line out and need to keep the hot fish away from your other line. Mostly steering the outboard with my feet while still in gear and ultimately gaffing your fish while still holding your rod with the other hand. That’s just the easy/ fun part.
Weather wise yesterday it was welcomingly overcast through the morning before turning out hot and sunny through the afternoon.
This morning the 20th and our 6.30am surf check on the Outer reefs here in South Kuta was only showing micro sized waves. Only 1-2ft at best between Kuta Reef and Airport lefts with a light ENE wind at the time. Lots of surf schools were turning up to attack the perfect sized waves for their guests. We are going to call a lay day and hopefully get our wheels in for a long over due service. So we hope you have an awesome Saturday and we should be back out there on the wave hunt again tomorrow.
Weather wise this morning it was cloudy early but now at 9.15am the blue sky is winning. Temperature wise the mercury is already on 27C and heading for 32C by midday. The humidity is also high at 83% and the wind is now East at 10km/h.
The next tide today here in Bali will be a 2.56mtr High at 10.10am.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast has the charts predicting a nice and welcomed bump in wave height with the period jumping 13seconds today up to 18 seconds tomorrow. The wind is predicted to be fresh out of the ESE.
The G-Land Camps are open and still pretty quite so if anyone would like to get over there for the essential experience drop us a line and we can get you over there with a bit of a discount. Just hit us up right here.
