These photos were shot down at Uluwatu on the 5th through the mostly overcast sky as it reflects. But yesterday the 6th and we were hoping to see a few small waves over on the East coast. Our primary was pretty much flat and then even after driving all the way up to Keramas we only found some 1-2 footers at best with half a dozen surfers in the water. The tide was still a bit low though and the wind was already on shore out of the ESE at by then, 7.30am.
So knowing there were not a lot of options available we thought we would cruise back over to the West side and see if there were any waves at the ever famous Padma st. Bali really does have some of the most consistent beach breaks in the World, no denying. Padma st was also pretty small as the tide was creeping in for a solid High but all the same there were some perfect little rights out the front and a few lefts running just to the south. Being a Saturday the grommets owned it and it would have been so good to be a light weight grommet out there in the perfect 1-3 footers.
Today the 7th and we were up long before the dawn and were treated to a beautiful moon set over the West coast. It really was bright / light enough to hit the surf before the sun rose and there were 3 surfers already out there doing just that. Wave height at the Gu (once the sun did rise) was in the waist to chest high range through most of the morning with maybe an occasional head high freak set. But even though there were still some super clean shaped left and rights to be had. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with a light off shore NE’r that lasted through until the Trade wind kicked in around 9.00am.
Weather wise today it’s been a real nice day with non stop blue sky and sunshine. But I have to say I did notice that the water temp is starting to cool off now the Dry season in starting to kick in.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast has the wave models calling in a spike in wave height with the period jumping from 12-15 seconds up to 16 seconds. So hopefully we will be getting into some fun ones in the morning. Wind direction is predicted to be fresh out of the ESE-SE.
