25 July, Bali-Indonesia: The Asian Surf Cooperative is excited to present the 5th Annual Tipi Jabrik’s Grom Patrol Surf Competition, Asia’s most exciting and longest running junior surfing event series, to be held at everyone’s favorite location of Halfways Kuta Beach in Bali from 29-30 July with a live broadcast that will allow viewers from all over the world to enjoy the action as Asia’s best young talents show off their amazing surfing skills.
Eagerly anticipated by the many up-and-coming young surfers here in Asia and beyond, the Grom Patrol Surf Competition was started in 2019 and now offers four age divisions for both boys and girls; 16 and Under, 14 and Under, 12 and Under, and 10 and Under. For a full two days, these groms along with their families and friends will enjoy fun, sun, camaraderie, and competition at arguably one of the best beach breaks in Asia, and the worldwide audience can tune in to cheer on their favorites as well.
Already most divisions are full with over 130 kids signed up, a testament to how popular both the event and surfing has become in the Asian Region. All participants will receive gift packs with a Grom Patrol T-shirt and tumbler, lunch each day, and the finalists in all divisions will receive prizes from event sponsors.
“We’ve been dedicated to the support and growth of junior surfing from way back when the surf brands were still doing their junior events,” says Grom Patrol creator Tipi Jabrik. “But as the industry changed and that stopped, we had to take it upon ourselves to create something sustainable. This has seen our Grom Patrol series grow and grow, nurturing the next generations of Asia’s surfing youth with both surf clinics and surfing competitions along with our Liga Surfing Indonesia program, thanks to the support of the PSOI and our generous sponsors. We’re looking forward to expanding the Grom Patrol into other Asian countries in the near future, as our next step, and we’re proud to have the only grom comp live broadcast in Asia…it is a great way to introduce surfing to a wider audience.”
Registration, scoring and the heat schedules will all be available on Live Heats at https://liveheats.com/events/148481 and please follow @grom.patrol and @asiansurfco for updates and a link to the live broadcast.
