This morning the 15th and the SE Trade wind was already fresh long before the dawn. I kind of expected after checking the forecast last night but hoped that it would hold off. So it was our secondary option coming into play this morning. Balangan was the call and it turned out to be a good one. Arriving maybe 10minutes before the sun rose and the dawn brought us a view of some sometimes perfect 3-5 footers peeling off from the point. The wind was swinging about a bit for the first half an hour but I reckon that was due to the semi enclosing cliffs. There was also a bit of a scare on the beach near the waters edge with an unusual blue colored sea snake making it’s way back into the water after taking a rest on the beach.
By 6.30am the wind was showing in true Trade wind force with a good fresh off shore wind. Crowd wise it was pretty much fark all right through till when we bailed out around 11.30am. The point did have around 15 surfers and probably another 15 scattered through to the end chopping block section. Serious traffic coming down the hill on the way home but it was heading South and us, heading North.
Weather wise it was mostly overcast early this morning that didn’t start clearing away until around 9.30. Right now at 3.50pm we do have a mostly blue sky and the temp is now on 28C with the humidity at 79%. Wind direction is still coming out of the SE at 24km/h.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for wave height to continue to back off slowly through out the 16th with the period dropping from 14 seconds to 13 seconds. Wind wise more fresh SE wind to go with it.
