Welcome back to your baliwaves for the latest news and best views on today’s surfing and weather conditions. Direct from your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination. Life is always better in Bali !
We had such a huge day yesterday the 30th to say the very least. First off we were up early and down on location at Balangan beach just on sunrise. That’s where our current photo gallery was captured. There was only 1 surfer in the water when we pulled up on the hill for a quick reconnaissance but by the time we were setting up in our favorite warung there were 5 times that many. Wave height had dropped down a little further but still some occasional decent 3-4ft set waves.
As the tide filled in Balangan beach really came to life and by 10.30am there could have been 100 surfers (mostly learners) spread right through the whole 350mtr line up. The beach was also lit up with lots of people out enjoying the warm water and great weather. We hung out until 11.00am before briefly going home for a tub and change of shirt before heading back down to the bukit for the opening ceremony for the 2023 RipCurl Padang Padang Cup. I’ll have a heap of photos and video clips from this event and will share with you all. One thing I have to say is that the even traffic down on the bukit area of Balangan Uluwatu to Jimbaran was kaotic last night. We left Padang Padang at 6.50pm and arrived back in Tuban just after 9pm.
Today the 31st and our 7.00am surf check on the Outer reefs here in South Kuta was only showing wave height in the waist to head high range. The wind was already coming lightly out of the East and the tide was running in at the time. So following wave height Ketut took a run up to Legian to see what was happening on the famous beach breaks of Legian.
His first stop was the most well know of all the beach breaks at Padma St car park. Ketut said it was still lacking a some tide and mostly closing out of the right hand section. But, he noticed some shredding going on just to the West of the main break on some near perfect left and rights. Not a bad Monday morning crowd with maybe 36 surfers spread over the left and rights. I haven’t even though about downloading Ketut’s photos yet, back to photo overload again. But I do plan on spending more time editing after lunch so stay tuned for more updates.
I have loaded a bunch of photos onto our Facebook and Instagram platforms from yesterday afternoons Padang Padang Cup opening ceremony. Just some stuff off my phone camera but we also shot a lot of high quality photos as well and will get something together for you over the next couple of days. Just for the record Indonesia is expecting the arrival of a solid swell on the 4th and it might just be ON.
Weather wise today it wasn’t too bad a morning but now at 1.00pm it’s more overcast than anything. Temperature wise the mercury is on 28C and the humidity at 79%. Wind direction is coming out of the SE at 25km/h.
The next tide today in Bali (Benoa Hbr) will be a 0.32mtr Low at 4.03pm
Tomorrow’s Swell Forecast has the models bringing us a new moderate to large swell that is going to light up a lot of locations from G-Land and East of Bali. Then rolling in on it’s back a larger “red alert” swell slamming into Bali on the 4th. So if you are up to it get those guns ready.
