Welcome back to your baliwaves for the latest news and best views on today’s surfing and weather conditions. Direct from your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination. Life is always better in Bali
Well it’s all been happening here on the baliwaves, yesterday I thought I would have a nice leisurely type of day, well leisurely for me anyway. But then we received the hot off the press news for the 5th annual Tipi Jabrik’s Grom Patrol that will be happening on the 29-30th of this month. Ketut returned from Uluwatu with over 800 photos and 4K video clips so that was like a double matinee and just to keep me nailed to the chair our good friends at Joyos G-Land Surf Camp sent us through another batch of the latest photos out of G-Land. Well head down arse up and get her done. So this last post from me right now should free me up until tomorrow. But if my 60mil Powerball numbers come home tonight, well then…
But anyway here are some photos from Uluwatu yesterday morning. Ketut was saying that wave height early was only in the 2-4ft class between Temple’s and the Track. But as the tide started to push in the game plan changed and there were soon 6-8 footers breaking on the outside Racetrack. Ketut never hung around to see the tide fill in but I could imagine there would have been a lot of water moving both out on the Peak and in front of the Cave. I wonder how many Ulu learners got caught out yesterday by the in coming new swell.
This morning the 27th and there is still no shortage of swell hitting both sides of the island. Early this morning there was virtually no wind and maybe even a light onshore here on the West side that would have made conditions clean and tidy on the East Coast. Even now at 10.10am the Trade wind is just starting to kick in. Wave height has dropped off a little compared to yesterday and expected to taper off just a smidgen today. Yesterday we had a wave period of 17 seconds and today it’s at 16 seconds. Still nice and healthy all the same.
I’ll be heading down to the beach shortly for another up date but I’d expect it would be pumping out on Kuta reef, especially after the tide turns as we are currently heading for a 0.78mtr Low / 11.09am. Balangan would be probably offering some steam train rides through the middle section right now. Bingin might be just a little too wide on the set waves and Impossibles is, well just impossible as always. The tide isn’t quit low enough and the swell not quite big enough for Padang Padang but I bet there are no shortage of surfers in the water there. Likewise at Uluwatu, the Outside Racetrack section would have a few peeling off.
Weather wise today, outside it was a mostly cool and overcast morning but is now starting to clear up with the Trade wind kicking kicking in. Currently at 10.20am the temp is warming up and on 27C, humidity is at 78%. Wind direction is out of the East at 11km/h.
Tomorrow’s Swell Forecast has the models showing wave height to continue tapering but there will be no shortage of waves and location possibilities on offer around Bali. Tomorrow’s wave period will drop from 16 seconds down to 14 by the end of the day. The wind models are also predicting a fresh SE turning ESE wind through out the day.
