Yesterday the 19th and as it shows in our latest photo gallery we made our way down to Uluwatu just as the sun was rising. The tide was still pretty low early and there were some super clean lines peeling down the Racetrack section in the head to over head high range, Around a dozen surfers already in the water shortly after sun rise. As the tide continued to run up wave height also kept growing and soon enough there were over head to triple head high waves hitting the Main Peak. While Temples was delivering some head to double head high lines. By 9.30 probably around 100 surfers spread from Temples down to the top of the Racetrack.
This morning the 20th and we got up a little earlier and took a run up to Medewi right up the West Coast of the island. This morning we witnessed a nasty motorcycle accident between 2 bikes and stopped to help the people. Please make sure if you do ride a bike here in Bali that you are competent, wear a helmet and ride safely please.
Medewi had some really nice waves peeling off in the 3-4ft+ range with a clean off shore wind. Crowd wise it was low while the tide was lower but as the tide filled in so did the number of learners on big volume boards and I saw so many “near misses” it was scary. Close to 100 *surfers spread through a 200mtr line up. The wind did shift to the South and then around to the SE by 8.45am but there were still some nice waves peeling through.
Weather wise it’s been your typical Bali holiday type weather today. Blue sky and a warm midday temp of around 29C.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for a solid spike in wave height with the period also jumping from 15 seconds to 16-17 seconds. The wind is again predicted to be fresh out of the SE.
