Hello friends of Bali and thanks for your support. Yesterday the 23rd and we were hoping to still find a few waves of a fast dwindling swell. So arriving at our Alpha destination 10 mins after the dawn to find some nice and super clean 2-3ft+ lines peeling off with a light and clean off shore wind. There was already 3-4 surfers in the water so we didn’t muck around getting ready and getting out there. The tide was still running down at the time and even though it was in fact a middle of the moon phase tide it was an actual crazy dry low tide.
A few more surfers turned up and it was still pretty cruisy. Then a big crew from Canggu rolled in with maybe 5 photographers, drones, video and water photographer and half a dozen surfers. That changed the lazy pace into a whole different scenario. I was chatting with the boss afterwards and they were actually shooting promotional material for their new range of wooden hand crafted surfboard store that has just opened at Canggu, Varuna. Even though the crowd did almost double in one move everyone still seemed to get their share of the waves. The swell and wave height was dropping off and by 10.00am there were only a few weak waves with a light on shore Southerly breeze.
Weather wise yesterday we did get a few drops of rain while we were in transit before turning out to be very hot and humid.
This morning the 24th and our 6.45am surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was not showing much at all breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport left. It was super misty and overcast earlier and visibility was very low. We were not expecting to be out surfing and shooting perfect waves today with the wave models delivering knee to waist high waves on a period of 0-11 seconds for today. The wind was light out of the West early but has now swung towards the Eastern quadrant. So Ketut and I will be taking it easy today, a well earned break we think.
The next tide today in Bali will be a .74mtr Low at 12.20pm
Outside right now at 10.40am the temp is heating up fast, currently on 30C with the humidity at 76%. There is still a little bit of cloud looking to the South East but mostly blue sky.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is looking a little bit better with a small bump in wave height that should see some head high waves at the better open locations. The wind is getting harder to predict at this time of the year as always. But my call would be for early morning light variable before turning to the Southern quadrant by mid morning.
