BALI / INDONESIA
12th – 13th July 2015
Hi surfers and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for the start of another surfing week and our latest news and views from here on the with out a doubt No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination on the planet, Bali.
Ok so what do you think of this current 53 strong photo gallery that we shot up the coast a little ways from here at Funggu. Ketut was on the scene around 7.45AM to find wave height still a very fun sized 2-4ft with a clean off shore wind just to make even more pretty. At the time there was maybe 20+ surfers on the always populated right hand river mouth and another half a dozen or so riding the sandbar section.
Today the 13th and our first 6.45AM surf recon on the Outer reefs of Tuban was showing wave height still in the waist to head high region between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with the SE off shore Trade wind already starting to kick in. There’s also been no shortage of surfers out there the last couple of weeks either but there are a few options on the Outers.
While I was up in the mountains seeing my traditional healer and getting my shoulder sorted out (all good and ready to paddle) I had Ketut take a run down to Uluwatu on the Southern end of the island. He was calling in wave height on the Main Peak and Temple sections in the chest to over head high class with clean as you can surfing conditions for the all the boys and girls down there surfing. I haven’t got that far as to check and edit any of the photos yet, but I’m on it right.
I’ve also been handed another disk full of photos from our friends at EGO surf photography who are located right in front of the barrels at Bingin Beach. I’ll get onto those for ya’s first up ok.
Weather wise it’s been a hot and sunny day, although a little cooler up in the mountains of Bedugul. No signs of volcano smoke or ash as far as I can see and I did see planes taking off from Denpasar airport on the way back home. So I hope the folks that really need to get back home are now on their way.
Ok folks I’ve got another big day on the road again tomorrow taking my family up to our family village on the North Eastern end of Bali in the foot hills of Mt Agung. So it’s all in Ketut’s hands again tomorrow.
And don’t forget people if your going to work and make a living or existence here in Bali you need to have a working Visa (KITAS). Do the right thing and get that tax paid. I also don’t think shooting photos to sell to magazines or people is classed as “a hobby” Get on the program and support Indonesia.
