BALI / INDONESIA
1st – 2nd November 2015
Hi folks and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping you in touch with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Ok so we have had a couple of large days that have just gone by here in Bali. Yesterday the 1st and as I mentioned Ketut and I were out there competing with 58 other traditional Balinese fishing boats in the Kuta Beach Fishing Tournament 2015. I’ve been in every sport fish tournament that’s ever run here on Bali’s West Coast so Ketut and I (in my own mind) were contenders. The day started off perfect with a clear sky and light wind. After 8 hours of fishing (trolling live baits) we did manage to boat a nice Spanish Mack and also managed to lose a few others along the way. At the end of the day we were lucky and did make it onto the podium. The after party and presentation was fantastic to say the lest with lots of food, drink and laughs with all my Indonesia fishing friends. There was also a good turn out of International fisho’s competing as well.
Today the 2nd and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer reefs of Tuban was showing a nice boostr in wave height with 2-4ft waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. At the time the tide was still pretty low so only Middle Reef was on but KR and AL also had plenty of action as the tide filled in. Surfing conditions at the time were clean and glassy with the wind light out of the SW.
My team was back over on the East Coast of Bali hunting waves and we did manage to find some clean and tidy ones. Wave height when we first arrived was in the 2-4ft range but by midday there would have been a few 5-6ft++ set waves coming through. It was good to catch up with local surfer Made Tedy who was out there ripping it up this morning
I also had a phone through report from Uluwatu calling in wave height at 4-6ft with a light on shore wind on it, but surfing conditions were still very manageable.
Weather wise it’s been just another mainly hot and sunny day here on the holiday island of Bali.
Ok folks that’s me for now but stay tuned to the original Bali surf report website cause there should be a little more swell in store for us again tomorrow and we’ll be all over it.
