Hello everyone and welcome back to the baliwaves (keeping you in touch with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok so there hasn’t been a helluva lot of swell happening here on Bali’s West Coast over the last couple of days. So as it shows in today’s 60+ photo gallery we have spent them down at Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. On the 20th it was pretty small with wave height lucky to be pushing the head high sector on the bigger sets. We probably could have done the drive up to Balian and found some slightly bigger waves but even at 2-3ft Uluwatu has still got more power and punch than Balian at 4ft. While yesterday the 21st there was a little more energy and size in the waves at Ulu, with wave height still in the 2-3ft class but with some 4ft, over head freak sets. Crowd wise it wasn’t too bad except for the amount of learner surfers in the water without any wave sense.
It was also great to see Indo surfing legend Mr Rizal Tandjung out in the water with his two sons passing on some father to son knowledge. Rizal’s youngest son is only 5 years old and already catching waves at Uluwatu, plus like his Dad he is also a goofy footer so there’s going to be a lot of tube time coming his way in the future.
Weather wise it was a funny old day down on the bukit with early morning overcast then some heavy rain that must have lasted a good 10 minutes before clearing away for a hot and sunny afternoon.
This morning the 22nd and right now it’s just gone 5.25AM and almost time to wake up the crew and get organized to go and get some more waves. So make sure you keep an eye on our social media scene of Twitter and Instagram to see what’s going down here in Bali.
The next tide today will be a 2.2mtr High just after 10.00AM
We also have a Full Moon rising tonight so we will be seeing some big tidal ranges over the next few days.
