BALI / INDONESIA
5th – 6th May 2016
Hello surfers and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on every sane surfers favorite tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Just to get us started here’s another sick photo gallery that we shot down at Uluwatu. This was Thursday when the swell was cranking through in the 4-6ft class on the Main Peak. By late Thursday afternoon my surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height to have dropped back down into the 2-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. So thinking that our new swell had come and gone we thought we’d take another run up Bali’s West Coast to Medewi.
Arriving on location at 7.15AM after a 2 hour drive to find waves smoking through in the 4-6ft class and peeling off for up to 400yrds. So after a quick cuppa and some eggs we were all over it. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with no wind, lasting through until 11.00AM when the wind did decide to dedicate to the SSW. But even when we pulled out the waves were clean and smooth. If you have ever surfed at Medewi my last wave took me all the way down to the river mouth, jelly legs.
Weather wise it was hot and sunny up the coast but driving back home we did strike a few drops of rain in the Tabanan region. It always rains in Tabanan being close to the mountain range.
This morning the 7th and out 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height to be still hanging in there at chest to head high with maybe a couple of slightly bigger one’s hitting Middle Reef. Surfing conditions were clean but with the wind coming lightly out of the NW.
Ok then that’s me for now but we’ve still got a tonne of photos to get edited and loaded up for ya’s so stay tuned to the one and only original baliwaves surf report site.
Oh with an extra long weekend happening here in Bali at the moment the traffic has been off it’s face to say the least. I’m just wondering what would happen if the people that want to double the tourism numbers in Bali actually got there way…
Oh yeah and if you didn’t already know there is another contest running over at Keramas, which seems to be the norm these days for this once pristine location. Good luck to the local boys in the event !!!
