BALI / INDONESIA
25th – 26th June 2016
Hi folks and welcome back to the baliwaves (keeping it real for you since back in 1999) for our Sunday Session for the latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from the with out a doubt World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Ok and yes sir the waves were fkn cranking through here yesterday the 26th. After doing our mandatory surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban to find wave height in the 2-3ft+ range with a light ENE wind. We made a bee line straight up the road a little ways to Canggu.
As this current photo gallery shows wave height was in the 3-4ft class with a few double head high set waves thrown in for good measure. Surfing conditions were as clean as could be with the wind blowing off shore right through until around 10.30AM. Even when the wind did swing to the SE surfing conditions still remained quite good. The best waves by far were happening on the river mouth and as could be expected it was pretty busy with the local surfers (Padma Boy’s & Halfway Kuta Crew) standing out especially young surfers like Corox, Rio Waida and his little brother were shredding it to pieces just to name a few.
Weather conditions were perfect as well with pretty much non stop blue sky and sun shine, maybe just a cloud or two to mess with my shutter speed from time to time.
Today the 26th and out surf check on the Outer Reefs (6.30AM) was still showing wave height in the 2-3ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The wind was light out of the ENE and the tide still heading for the Low. So we took our time and thought we’d head down to Balangan, just for something different. So our first glimpse of Balangan around 9.45AM was showing some fun looking waves peeling off in the 2-3ft+ class with a clean as you like off shore wind and only maybe 20 surfers in the water.
But by the time we down the cliff and set up in the little warungs that front the surf wave height was showing more like 2-2ft+ with surf schools flocking into the water. But there were still a few waves to be had from the learners, that is until the midday ish high tide filled in and killed it.
Weather wise what a day it’s been, fantastic if your a lawn or a tree with on and off again rain for the best part of the day. Heavy rain thunder and lightning through the early AM, then more rain and more rain through out the day. It has cleared up through the afternoon, but I’m not game to say it’s finished (Murphy’s Law will have the last say).
Changing dollars to Rupiah in Kuta –1AU$=Rp9,850– –1US$=Rp13,300– don’t know what the English Pound or Euro is doing at the moment.
