BALI / INDONESIA
5th – 6th November 2016
Hello friends and thanks for tuning again to the baliwaves. Hey and how about showing some love and take a look at the flashing banner over to the right of this. We are hoping to raise some so we can get some new camera equipment and helping you save some money at the same time. We’ve been doing our part here at baliwaves since ’99 bringing you a little bit of Bali each day, so show some love if you can.
Yesterday the 5th and it was hard work to find a wave on either side of the island. Our first surf check was over on the East Coast at Serangan but even by 7.20AM the wind was fresh on shore out of the SSE. But had the wind been clean we would have had some empty head high peaks.
So from there we had no choice other than to head down to Uluwatu where you can always get a wave. I think in the last 20+ years of being a surfer in Bali I have ever only seen Ulu flat once, maybe twice. That’s a pretty good track record what do you think.
As it shows in todays photo gallery wave height down at Uluwatu was still pretty small but there was a head high set or two and surfing conditions were clean and tidy. As can be expected when the surf is down there was a solid crew of learner surfers in the water and a little bit of kaos going down but good for a laugh when your watching.
Today the 6th and the boys and I just decided for a no brainer and had a paddle out at Middle Reef on the Outer Reefs of Tuban. My 6.20AM surf check was only showing shoulder high waves with 2 surfers in the water. By the time we got out there at 7.25AM there were still only 2 surfers with wave height now in the solid head high class as the tide hit the bottom of the low. Middle Reef is a living coral reef that works best on the low tide, it does get shallow though. So we had a good fun surf this morning and I get to have lunch at home, stoked. NB: wave height is still creeping up as we left the beach there would have been 4 footers coming through and rising.
Weather wise it’s been a mostly hot and sunny morning here on the holiday island, right now at 1.30PM the mercury would be sitting around the 32C mark. Wind direction is now light out of the SSW.
Thanks again for checking out the baliwaves and don’t forget to check some of the special deals we are offering in order to get you some new camera equipment. There’s also a chance to win a brand new surfboard for anyone who does participate. For every 50 dollars spent you will get 1 chance to win a brand new Diverse surfboard ($50 = 1 chance, $100 = 2 chances etc)
