BALI
21st July 2013
Hello everyone and welcom the baliwaves.com (the original Bali surf report since 1999) for our Sunday Session on surfing and weather conditions from here on everybodies favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
Ok so we had another reasonably early start this morning to catch the tide and to take advantage of the light and variable morning wind over on Bali’s East Coast. Arriving around 7.30AM after the 45 minute drive to find wave height a fairly consistent chest to slightly over head range. Surfing conditions were as it shows in the photos very clean and tidy with the wind light cross / off shore, with around 20 surfers in the water on the main break. I was also happy to see a lot of the local grommets out there having heaps of fun. The wind did start to swing to the ESE at 10.30AM we hung out until 12.00 noon as the tide was starting to flow out and some big black rain clouds started coming in at us.
Weather wise it’s been another reall mixed up kinda day with nothing but cloud cover all morning with some midday rain on the East side. Right now at 3.45Am the sun is back in control of the sky and the mercury sitting on 28 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level at 74%
Canggu Surf Report (the Doc’s) Early this morning the waves were clean with sets about head high. The tide was full and there seemed to be two swells with slightly different wave periods so that every 10 minutes or so the wave cycles joined up and we had a bigger one. At 7.15 am there was 8 surfers on the left, a good number for the conditions. With the turn of the tide waves got bigger so it feels like a good bump in wave height is on the way.
Sounds good Doc and that’s just what the charts are calling for us.
This mornings G-Land surf report had wave height down in the 1-3ft range breaking on Kongs with good clean off shore wind. I don’t think the lucky buggers over in camp will also have long to wait before G-Land is cranking again.
So if anyone is interested in going over to the legendary left hand wave, G-LAND of East Java contact me and baliwaves.com will hook ya’s up with a solid 10% discount.
Hey and don’t forget the RipCurl Padang Padang Cup (main event) is still on when it’s on with still plenty of waiting period time left on the clock. So hopefully we’ll get the swell and the contest will run. We’ll keep you in the loop with any news of the event.
NB: Petrol price has finally been increased here in Indonesia with a 40% hike so you can expect prices right across the board to follow suit. Being a small island everything we need comes here by truck. I would expect our beloved Bintang beer to be the first to be jacked.
