BALI / INDONESIA
26th – 27th July 2018
Hello everyone and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves (working through the weekends to bring you a little bit of Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views. From right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok so to get things up to scratch here’s a solid photo gallery from Padang Padang that we shot late afternoon on the 26th. As it shows with the mostly back lit surfers it’s pretty tough to shoot into a setting sun, but there was no way were not going to shoot one of the best waves in Bali, let alone all of Indonesia when it’s on. There were a few bomb sets still hitting the shelf and plenty of long deep and open tube rides. Pretty much locals only and the boys were putting on a rock solid display.
I din’t get a chance to load these photos up yesterday as on the 27th we were up and on the road long before dawn on the search for more perfect waves. We ended up doing a couple of wave checks along the way and were surprised to still find most locations in the head to double head high class. Unfortunately the SE Trade kicked in early but surfing conditions were still clean and glassy in the bay. Crowd wise there were maybe 20 at first then settling back to just a hand full, and that’s the way we like it.
Weather wise it was mostly hot and sunny over on the East Coast yesterday.
This morning the 28th and right now the clock has just gone 4.44AM and it’s not going to be long and we’ll be back on the road. But today we will be heading in a different direction so make sure you keek an eye on our @baliwaves Twitter feed for more news and up dates through out the morning.
The next tide today will be a 2.4mtr High at 10.04AM and speaking of Moons the sky is cloudy here in South Kuta this morning, no sign of the Blood Moon but there is a pink tinge to the sky. So it’s definitely up there. I last saw a Blood Moon maybe around 20 years ago here in the sky over Bali.
