Hey everyone and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (Bali’s original surf report website since back in 1999) For our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Yesterday the 28th and it was well worth the 1.5hr drive up the coast to Balian. Arriving around 6.45AM to find just a handful of surfers in the water and wave height in the head to double head high class. Tip top surfing conditions with a fresh off shore wind that hung in there through until 10.00AM. There was a little bit of fresh water color in the water but no signs of any men in grey suits. I think this is year 3 without any incidents at Balian and hopefully there won’t be anymore. Top day had by all involved !
Today the 29th and just for something different we took an early morning run up to Canggu. Arriving at 5.45AM to find only one surfer in the water on the sand bar and another 4 or 5 riding the river mouth. Wave height was in the 2-3ft+ range with a light off shore Northerly breeze. Things were looking good, until around 20 minutes later on my next head count there must have been 50 on the river mouth and a good 40 on the sand bar.
That was nothing though, looking down to Batu Bolong and Berawa from Canggu there must have been over 200 learner surfers in the water. Now the scary thing is that probably next year they will be thinking they are experienced enough to move up to Canggu and surf…
Weather wise there was some cloud around early but now at 2.10pm it’s mostly blue sky here in the South Kuta zone. Wind direction is now coming out of the SW at 7-12knot
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is looking like wave height will be backing off and down another notch so look for the open locations if your on the hunt. The good thing is that there should be FA wind through until late morning.
