BALI / INDONESIA
16th – 17th April 2018
Hello surfers and welcome back to your baliwaves (The original Bali surf report website since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Alright so as you may have guessed we’ve been hard at it over here. This latest photo gallery we shot while we were way up Bali’s West Coast at Medewi. Some really clean and beautiful waves coming through in the chest to over head class with silky smooth surfing conditions. I even managed to snag a couple of nice ones myself. But, just so many learner surfers getting pushed into waves or complete kooks totally un aware they were dropping in, this isn’t going to get any better. It’s also not just happening in Bali. Surf schools are arming learners with long boards with barely enough skill to stand up and absolutely no surf etiquette. Then where do all these surf school graduates go to ?
Yesterday the 17th and my family and I were back up in our mountainside village to cast our votes in the local election and the big one for the Presidency of all Indonesia.
Today the 18th and with our new swell already starting to hit Bali yesterday afternoon we made our way up Bali’s East Coast on the wave hunt. As soon as I recover from all the miles behind the wheel (20hrs in 3 days) I’ll edit up some photos from today. It was pumping with head to almost triple head high set waves.
Weather wise out there today it’s been a real warm one and right now at 3.40PM the temperature is still a warm 30 degree’s Celsius. Earlier this morning the wind was light and variable up on the East Coast of Bali before swinging to the East then ESE around 9.300AM. Right now it’s coming hard out of the ESE-SE at around 15knot+
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for more solid swell coming out of the SSW with the period at 15 seconds. Should be some good waves for the experienced surfers and the better known big wave locations
