BALI / INDONESIA
11th – 12th May 2019
Hello everyone and welcome back to your baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali’s surf scene since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok just a quick one to brings up to scratch, wave height on the 11th was still pretty small over on the East Coast. But at least where we were surfing there was only a handful of surfers on the scene with wave height a little more consistent but still only in the chest to head high plus range.
Yesterday the 12th (Mothers Day Downunder) and as it shows in our latest photo gallery we were down on the Southern end of the island at Balangan. The morning low tide had some nice waves coming through and not a real lot of surfers in the water with wave height in the head to well over head high class. But as the tide filled in and the learners turned up (10.00 – 11.00AM) it did turn chaotic and some nasty accidents happened from *surfers without any clue on how to behave in the line up. That’s why when we surf down there or anywhere for that matter it’s gotta be early morning before the 30year old learners start arriving.
Today the 13th and we took a leisurely drive up Bali’s West Coast to see what was happening at Balian. On arrival surfing conditions were clean and glassy with some of the set waves pushing double head high. By the time I caught my last wave I think there would have only been maybe 5 surfers left in the whole line up. Not the best waves on offer but plenty of em and no one getting run down by learners
Weather wise it’s been a great day for a birthday, just blue sky, lots of waves and great company.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying that we might even see a small bump in wave height, light variable wind depending on where your going to be before the ESE-SE Trade wind kicks in around mid morning.
The video footage from Balangan is still on hold but I’ll get to it ASAP. Right now it’s just about time for a couple of cold bintangs with my crew. Stay tuned to the baliwaves for tomorrow’s Bali Morning Surf n Weather report first thing.
