AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE
Hello surfers and thanks for checking out the baliwaves today for the latest news on Bali’s surfing and weather conditions.
This mornings 7.00Am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was looking promising with 1-3ft waves and clean off-shore wind out of the ENE. The boys staying with us here at Home Base opted for the no effort surf and surfed out on Airport Left. But I wanted to take advantage of the new swell and clean wind (it’s been awhile) and loaded up the camera gear and hit the road for Uluwatu.
On arrival I was stoked to see clean waves breaking in the 3-4ft+ range with around 35 surfers spread out between the Racetrack and Main Peak. The tide was sarting to fill in for a solid 2.5mtr High so the main surfing focus was on the Main Peak and Temple sections. I also have to say that Temple’s was producing some very nice waves and there was another 20 or so surfers up there on it. Uluwatu was definitely the place to be surfing today.
Uluwatu: I have to give full praise to Uluwatu Life Guard Mr Ketut Pitur for rescuing a body boarder fighting a loosing battle with the current infront of the “cave” entrance / exit point. You see down at Uluwatu when ever there is a solid High Tide and over 3ft of swell a very strong current runs along the cliff face. And unless you are aware of it and adjust your wave in to compensate you will find yourself fighting a losing battle and have to paddle back out to the line up and try again. This body boarder today failed two times to compensate and was clearly to tired to make a third attempt. That’s when Ketut Pitur made the decision to race down there and help him out.
Weather wise today we have had another hot and sunny day here along Bali’s South West coast. But right now at 3.00Pm there is a dark and stormy looking front moving in out of the North with a strong possibility of rain late this afternoon / evening.
Ok then things are starting to look real positive for the coming week in the surf department here in Bali so make sure you stay tuned to the one and only original Bali surf report website.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban you’ll find that 1AU$=Rp7,600 and 1US$=Rp11,990 give or take 100Rupiah depending on vender.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI, see ya’s here in 2009
