BALI
27th – 28th July 2014
Hi folks and welcome to the start of another surfing week here on the baliwaves (relentless since 1999) for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from not just here on your favorite surfing destination of Bali but all over Indonesia.
Yesterday morning after our morning surf check (re twitter) on the Outer Reefs and finding wave height was still only in the 2-4ft class and the wind light out of the Northern quadrant, our plans were made. Bee lining straight over to the East coast to Keramas and hoping that after all the strong SE wind that has been blowing, maybe, just maybe there wouldn’t be too many surfers on it…
Arriving around 8.30AM to find wave height in the chest to well over head range and super clean and tidy surfing conditions. But with at least already 25 surfers in the water. Even though it’s pert near impossible to find this wave un crowded these days there were plenty of perfect waves rolling through and some nice tube rides going down.
Our afternoon surf check back on the Outer Reefs at 5.00PM was then showing a big jump in wave height with 4-6 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
Weather wise yesterday over on the black sand beach of Keramas it was bloody hot. Not if you were lazing in the shade, but if you were a photographer standing on the snad in the sun it was brutal. I was the only silly bugger in the latter catagory.
This morning the 28th and our 6.30Am surf check on the Outers was showing wave height to have even spiked a little more with non stop 4-6ft waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was running in at the time and heading for a 2.4mtr High at 10.30AM and the wind already fresh out of the ESE. There were plenty of surfers out on Kuta Reef but it was a little to big for KR and mostly just washing past the reef into the channel and not bending around the reef.
Weather wise there was a good portion of blue sky earlier (re twitter) but now at 9.30AM the cloud is starting to dominate the sky. Temperature wise the mercury is on 26 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is on 72%. Wind direction is gusty out of the SEat 8 – 12knot+.
Around Indonesia, I’ve also loaded up some photos from over at G-land and the Mentawai islands this morning so look em up and check em out.
Have a good one what ever your doing today. We might hang around and wait of rthe tide to run out and go see if there’s anything on at Padang Padang this afternoon.
