BALI
11th – 12th August 2014
Hi folks and welcome back to the baliwaves.com (keeping the ball in play since 1999) for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well yesterday morning well and truelly saw our new swell smashing into Bali’s reef and beaches. Our first surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing 5-7 footers breaking from Kuta Reef to Airport Left. There were surfers out trying to ride Kuta Reef but there was just too much water moving and not many waves being actually rode. Surfing conditions were treacherous with a strong off shore SE wind.
From there Ketut took a couple of the boys for a tour down South starting off to see if there were any beach breaks at Jimburan Bay. The Bay is normally wave free but when a big swell hits there are a couple of sand banks that provide some easy learner type beachies.
From there the boys stopped in at Padang Padang to see if the contest was running. It was but it was on hold while the tide was too high and to full. It did eventually kick off through mid afternoon and congratulations to the winner Garut Widiarta and ruuner up Raditya Rondi. We’ll have the full press release from RipCurl up on site later today.
After PP Ketut dropped into Uluwatu only to find the big 2.6mtr High tide ruining there as well. But there was a couple of surfers out there trying to survive the solid 8ft+ waves. To finish off the ride yesterday the boys stopped in down on the South East side of the island but the conditions were all wrong for there as well.
This morning the 12th and our 7.00Am surf check on the Outer Reefs was still showing some solid waves between Kuta Reef and Airports. The tide was starting to push back in and Kuta Reef already had at least 20+ surfers out there with 3-5ft waves. Middle’s was closing out and likewise at Airports.
Wave height is expected to keep backing off through out the day and we are just about to hit the road with the 1000mm lens to go and see what we can find. So have a good one and stay tuned right here to Bali’s original surf report website.
Plus we’ve got a truck load of new photos from the Mentawai’s, G-land and more Bingin barrels to load up later this afternoon.
Real Estate, we also have a new listing on the baliwaves for a small surf camp over in the Philippines over looking un crowded perfect waves so if this is what your looking for check it out here https://www.baliwaves.com/for-sale/
