BALI
20th – 21st August 2014
Hi folks and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (there is only one baliwaves, since 1999) for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the only place for your next hard earned tropical surfing holiday, Bali.
Ok so yesterday the 20th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height in the 2-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Middle Reef was picking up a few slightly bigger set waves but the tide too full. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with the wind only light out of the East.
So as it shows in today’s photo gallery we headed up the West coast to Canggu, seeing as though the strong SE Trade wind had finally let up. (The SE Trade wind blows cross / on shore at Canggu).Arriving at 8.00AM to find wave height here also in the 2-4ft class with some clean and still glassy waves happening on all 3 of the main breaks in the Canggu area. We were not surprised to find an already solid crowd of 40 surfers on the right hander and an average of 20 on the sand bar and another 20 on the Echo left. Looking just to the South of Canggu towards Batu Bolong and there looked to be around 70+ in the water down there and also quite a few at Brawa.
Our afternoon surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing a slight bump or rather more consistent looking 2-4ft between Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
Weather wise it was mostly sunny here on the holiday island with some cloudy patches drifting through. Temperature wise another warm 29 degree’s Celsius around mid afternoon.
This morning the 21st and my 7.00AM surf recon on the Outer reefs was showing wave height in the 2-3ft range on Kuta Reef and Airport Left with a sometimes slightly bigger freak set hitting Middle Reef. There was news that Airport Right also had some fun sized head high waves on the morning high tide. Surfing conditions are clean and tidy with the wind light out of the ESE at 4-7knot.
Ketut has called through from over on the East coast this morning calling in wave height in the 3-4ft class. Surfing conditions were still clean even though the wind was light cross / on shore, 15 surfers in the water at Keramas.
Weather wise this morning at 9.30AM we have a mainly overcast start to the day and the temperature sitting on 26 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 79%. Wind direction is coming out of the East at 4-8knot.

Swell Prediction for the next 7 days is looking pretty good with small but fun sized waves between now at Friday. Some time Saturday we will see a very solid swell slamming into Bali that will peak through the early hours of Sunday morning then slowly taper off till Tuesday. Then bam Wednesday will be delivering another solid swell riding in on the back of the last. So get ready for Bali at it’s best.
OK that’s me for now so have a good one what ever your up to and tune in again later, just keep an eye on our “Recent Posts” section on the right hand side and bottom of this page.
