****LATE SURF UP DATE****
Hello folks and welcome back to your baliwaves to see whats been happening here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well first up as you all probably have heard by now that yesterday we had another shark attack happen at the river mouth location of Balian. I don’t know the complete story myself but something like, a surfer had his arm mauled by an estimated 2mtr Bull shark. This is the second shark incident at this location in something like 6-8 months. On both occassions it had been while the water color was a dark chocolate brown caused by heavy rain in the area.
This mornings surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban wasn’t showing a lot of left over swell. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport left was way down in the knee to waist high range. I’d also had a text report saying there wasn’t anything happening up at Keramas either. So I hung out and had lunch at home for a change and then took a quick run over to Serangan to see if there was anything happening.
On the drive in off the highway I could tell that the wind was swinging from the earlier WNW – W now turning more to the S – SSE. But there was still the odd solid head to well over head high set wave breaking out the front of the beach side warungs. Surfing conditions were cross / on shore but still clean enough to have some fun. As we were packing up it felt like the wind had gone right around to the ESE. Hopefully tomorrow morning will provide some clean conditions.
We’ve also got some new surfing / accommodation packages sorted out for those of you who want nothing more to think about except surfing, at the right place at the right time. Hit this info link to find out more.
