BALI
3rd – 4th March 2015
Hello surfers and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (delivering a little bit of Bali to you since back in 1999) for the latest news and hard to beat views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the happy little tropical surfing holiday destination that’s got something for everyone, BALI.
Right so as you’ve probably already flicked through our 60 strong photo gallery that we hammered off yesterday over on Bali’s East Coast. We pulled up in front of Keramas (Warung Cetu) to see perfect waves in the 3-4ft range with a few slightly bigger bomb sets as the tide filled in. With equally perfect surfing conditions thanks to a clean off shore wind. Sounds pretty good hey, until you throw in 30 all eager to go surfers into the equation. But it was pretty consistent until the tide peaked and by that time the wind was also blowing on shore (9.15AM).
Weather wise it was like being out in the middle of a desert yesterday, standing on the black sand beach of Keramas with camera equipment in hand. Felt like at least 30 degree’s Celsius by 9.00AM. Until the wind shifted to the SSW and brought in some on shore relief.
This morning the 4th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban (re Twitter) was showing chest to head high waves with a slightly bigger set wave, betweek Kuta Reef and Airport Left / Right. Surfing conditions were clean and almost glassy with the wind light out of the North.
I’ve already sent our man Ketut out with the camera equipment and he has phoned in from Canggu calling wave height in the chest to over head class on all 3 of the main breaks, Echo Left, Sandbar & River mouth. Surfing conditions at the time were clean and tidy with the wind blowing pretty much straight off shore. No shortage of early morning surfers at Canggu.
Weather wise today we cot off to a wet start with some solid early morning showers. Right now at 8.30AM we are back to an almost full blue sky (Tuban) and in for another hot and humid day here on the holiday island. The wind has also shifted a little more the NE @ 2-4knot. Yesterday also had a Full Moon rise so expect some large tidal differences over the next few days.
Speaking of, the next tide today in Bali will be a 2.2mtr High @ 10.00AM.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta (Melasti st) –1US$=Rp12,900 — 1AU$=Rp10,030 — they are the best rates I saw on a “no commision” exchange.
