****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (’99) for the weekend wrap up on surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Just to bring ya’s up on Saturday’s surfing conditions, pretty well micro to tiny waves lapping onto the reef (Outer Reefs) was my call, so it was good to have a “lay day”. Because all the charts were predicting a new swell to start showing itself through out Sunday.
So I wasn’t surprised on my 6.20AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban showing 1-3ft waves with a fresh SE off shore wind blowing. The tide was still dropping at the time so only Midle Reef was ridable, but lot’s of promise and well worth waiting for the tide to start running back in for some Kuta Reef action. We timed it perfectly, as now there were some more solid over head freak sets wrapping onto the reef. The 3 Kuta Reef local surfers, Devis Ratif, Sima & Yuki had the place wired as usual. But there was plenty of waves and a mellow crew of around 20 maximum.
Surfing conditions as you can see in today’s 98 strong photo gallery there was nothing to complain about for the quality of wave coming through. Strong off shore wind and cooler than normal water is a small price to pay.
Tidal info for today had a 0.4mtr Low @ 8.00AM and then filling back in with a 1.9mtr High around the 2.00PM mark.
Weather wise this morning there was a lot of cloud drifting over between the sunny breaks. Temperature wise here in Tuban the mercury reach 30 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction started off lightly out of the E-SE and then gradullay pick up in strength through the morning (10 – 14knt+ max).
More swell and more waves again to start off next week for the lucky one’s, living it up hear in Bali. So stop by again if you get the time and see what we got up to.
Today’s G-Land Surf Report thanks to our friends at the G-Land Surf Camp called in wave height this morning at the famous Indonesian left hand reef break @ chest to over head high @ 8.30AM East Java. Kongs down through Money Tree’s was where the swell was hitting and no surfers in the water at the time. Surfing conditions perfect with clean off shore wind already on it.
Don’t forget to drop us a line if any of you would like a solid discount off your next trip into the G-Land Surf Camp.
Heading towards Kuta / Seminya from any direction you may encounter some traffic delays over the next week or two with the start of Indonesian National holidays, so just be try to be patient.
While I’m on the traffic scene I’ve been meaning to say something about some of the crazy crazy stuff I’ve seen over the years from happy easy going folk on holidays riding motor bikes around Bali when they shouldn’t be. Then spoiling / ending their vacation and maybe their friends vacation from a motor cycle accident. I don’t know what the exact statastics for motorcycle accidents involving foreigners in Bali would be, but I’m damn sure they would be right up there. The average tourist I see on the “automatic scooters” that have never even rode a push bike in heavy traffic, let alone a motorcycle than can hit speeds of over 100kmh is a joke. The most experienced riders in Bali ride slowly with total awarness and caution at all times, helmet, always. So please excersise some common sense when thinking about riding motor bikes in Bali, your on holiday, grab a car and a driver, relax.
