BALI
6th April 2015
Hi folks and thanks again for calling by the baliwaves (doing our best to keep you in touch with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the place most of you would much rather be, Bali.
Alright then here’s the photo gallery (84 photos strong) that we shot on the 4th up at Funggu here on Bali’s West Coast. Pretty well much the last day of almost decent waves we have had since.
Today the 6th and our early morning surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing (on the lower end of the tide) 1-2ft waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions at the time were clean and glassy with the wind coming lightly out of the North.
So just for the hell of it we took another run up to Canggu to see if there was anything worth surfing. Arriving at 8.30AM to find the high tide already starting to do it’s damage to the 1-2ft waves. There was half a wave breaking on the river mouth right hander but with plenty of frothing grommets all over it. While the sand bar and Echo beach waves were being battered by back wash. I didn’t bother opening my camera box or putting wax on my board.
Speaking of my new board, make sure you check out the last photo in today’s gallery as it gives you a good idea of how we survived without technology or gps systems back in the hey day of surfing. One of my favorite old sayings back in the mid 70’s was “the sea has no respect for technology, only technique”
Weather wise today it’s been another warm morning followed by some afternoon cloud that transformed from a slow thunderstorm into some light rain and now at 5.45AM it’s a total glass off.
Hopefully tomorrow we might get a small spike in the wave department, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see right. So stay tuned to the original Bali surf report website.
