BALI
12th November 2012
Hi folks, stoked you could drop by the baliwaves.com (the Bali surf report since 1999) for the start of another surfing week here on the best damn value tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
So with this mornings 6.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs (of Tuban) showing a pretty big drop in wave height, and seeing as though the wind was light out of the North, and the tide a rising. Canggu was my obvious choice to take the crew surfing today. By the time we arrived after negotiating some thick traffic through Kuta, Legian and Seminyak it was around 7.30AM and the wind had already started to turn to the W-SW. Even so surfing conditions up there were still clean and glassy.
The bulk of today’s photos were snapped off sitting in front of the cafe’s in relative comfort aiming at the left hand reef. Out there, there was only around 8-10 surfers and as it shows in the photos a nice fun sized head to well over head high. The sand bar also had some shape with only half a dozen riders on it. While down on the right hand river mouth there would have been at least 30 surfers jockeying for position.
Around 9.30AM the wind started to get a little fresher and now starting to turn to the South so we packed it up and shipped it back to Tuban. But, not before having one of the best meals I’ve ever ever had. Well at 9.30AM in the morning anyway. If your up at Canggu make sure you hit “Sate Bali” cafe for their Cesar salad and their Chicken fillet, for a total of 6 bucks (with a can of coke), insane value !
High tide was at around 7.30Am this morning.
Weather wise it’s been another classic summers day here on the holiday island. Currently right now at 3.30PM the outside temperature is sitting on 31 Celsius, Humidity is at 60%. Wind direction is flowing out of the South at 6-9knot.
