****MORNING SURF UP DATE****
Hello and a big thank you to all you surfers tuning into the original Bali surf report, baliwaves ’99. For the latest “average Joe” news on today’s surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination.
I suppose anyone who has been following on twitter, or just by readung the latest ones off the page would know that yesterday’s waves were pretty darn small here along the West Coast anyway. The Outer Reefs of Tuban had 1-1ft+ breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with off shore wind.
This mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs was looking just a touch better than yesterday with 1-2 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. I did even see one or two surfable waves on Airport Left at 7.30AM. There might even be a couple of sly ones on Middle Reef later this afternoon on the lower end of the tide. Otherwise Uluwatu would be the best chance for more size and power today.
Surfing conditions were clean with the wind coming lightly out of the East @ 2-4knots, it had increased a little since then and a little more E-SE in direction
Weather wise it’s another hot and sunny day here for the beach lovers on vacation. Outside right now at 9.50AM the temperature has reached 29 degree’s Celsius and still has a way to travel yet I’d imagine. The Humidity level is at 75%. Sunrise was at 5.49Am and will set at 6.22OM and no rain forecasted for today.
Tidal info for today had a 1.9mtr New Moon High @ 10.00Am and will be running back out for a 0.6mtr Low around the 4.00PM mark.
We are pretty lucky at the moment with our new camera (just out of warranty..) sitting in the repair shop while the waves are small. Hopefully the technicians can get her started again, I do have to admit she’s delivered quite a lot of good photos for us. Anyway I’m thinking it would be good to have another camera (Cannon 7D) so we can shoot photos and video clips everytime we are on the road. So if anyone could lend a helping hand in the aquisitioning of such apparatus please drop us a line and we’ll tell you how to contribute. All up I reckon with 400mm lens and converter / battery grip, we are going to need around AU$4,000.00 Any amount you could spare will help big time.
Another thing noticable on the highway and roads today is the amount of tourists riding around on motorbikes without helmets, shirts and a few without even rubber sandels on their feet. And I reckon an honest guest would have been that at least 85% of them would have never even sat on a motorcycle before let alone try to ride one in crazy traffic, it was just that obvious…. Our advice is, if you don’t ride at home don’t ride here in Bali !
For any of you that just want nothing more than a hassle free, get up and go surf perfect waves every morning (pending Huey), see and do what the hotel / resort sect don’t. Best Regards from Bali
Slim
